This is an Historic Occasion!

Today started badly. I could tell something was amiss because Cat-Mommy and -Daddy both got us and were busy right away. Then I noticed they were both looking at me frequently and talking among themselves. Uh-oh! This spells trouble so I snuck under the corner of the bed. And my instincts were not wrong. Soon thereafter I was lured out with treats and shoved into the carrier. Ack!

The photo above I looked like before I smelled trouble. Very relaxed but you can clearly see my staples and of course the dreaded Cone of Shame.

The rest was all too familiar…a ride in the car and a visit to (gasp) the vet! But then the most amazing thing happened. In almost the blink of an eye I had seen vet and was back in the car. No pointy-stickies, no yucky-queasy injection…nothing. But something was different. Not bad, mind you. Just different. When we got home and I was released from the carrier I figured out what it was: the Cone of Shame was no more!

I was free!!!

As I began exploring my world without the cone I also noticed my staples had been removed. What freedom: Hello toes! Hello belly! Hello paws and tail and catly cleaning! I was free to rub my head against all and sundry and best of all, bathe. It was an epic bath!  Eating is much easier without the cone too. And purring! I sat on Cat-Daddy’s lap and gave an exhibition of purring and bathing and purring he’ll not soon forget. Then the weight of relief overcame me and I climbed down for a nap, almost as epic as my first bath in three weeks had been. A picture of me sans cone and staples:

Olive Without Stitches

This is indeed an historic occasion. How sweet it is!

  1. Hi Wendi,  I tried a comment again, but still needed to log in one way or another, so I just hit reply.  We are happy that Olive is now “free.”  That was a lovely blog.

  2. It sounds like it was worth getting into the carrier. No more cone of shame and staples. What a cutie picture of you!
